RHEINHESSEN LIEST: Über den Dächern von Jerusalem

1947/48: The 15-year-old Jewish girl Tessa arrives in Jerusalem as a half-orphan and meets the Arab boy Mo, who lost his father in an attack. A tentative friendship develops between them, but amidst the turmoil of the founding of the state, they lose sight of each other. 2023: The 18-year-old Anat has just started her military service and encounters the young Palestinian Karim in the West Bank. At first, both are paralyzed with fear. But then they begin to talk to each other and realize that they have more in common than they thought. In her multiple award-winning debut novel, renowned journalist Anja Reumschüssel intertwines four life paths across two time levels and tells the story of the Middle East conflict from the beginnings of the state of Israel to the present day. Without taking sides, she conveys the background of a seemingly unsolvable conflict in an understandable way.
