Dog Life – of Humans and Their Animal
Companions
Dietmar Gaumann

A Rottweiler that instills hellish fear in a neighbor boy. The Chihuahua of the invasive neighbor who can't stand you at all. Or the old mixed-breed lady Maggy – Dietmar Gaumann's stories are populated by large and small representatives of the species dog. Sometimes they play a supporting role, sometimes they are the secret stars of the stories. With much empathy and charm, Gaumann tells of the relationship between humans and their best friend. The only thing that remains biting is the wit of the tales, as the dogs usually turn out to be what they are in real life: lovable companions whose quirks are solely due to their owners. One should not miss this literary treat.

Dietmar Gaumann studied American Studies and is an employee of the Literature Office Mainz. His collection of short stories, Sacred Cows, was recently published.
