From May 16 to October 4, 2026, the 7th Sculpture Triennale will take place in Bingen am Rhein under the title CONNECTION AND SOLIDARITY. As in previous editions of the Triennale, in 2026 approximately 20 artistic positions will be showcased along the banks of the Rhine and at selected locations in downtown Bingen, including three site-specific works from the newly established funding program of the Triennale.
In a time of significant political and social upheaval, where much is drifting apart, it is connection and solidarity that strengthen community. The 7th Sculpture Triennale in Bingen addresses this theme and presents artists who engage with current questions of support and social strength in their work. The exhibited sculptures reflect, either in content or material, what holds people, materials, or ideas together. In addition to classic sculptures, performative and participatory works will be shown, connecting places and bringing people together.
With this thematic focus, the curators Sara Bernshausen and Lutz Driever aim not only to inspire artistic reflection on coexistence. By involving people, clubs, initiatives, or institutions on-site, existing networks should be strengthened, and new ones established that remain effective even beyond the Triennale.
The upcoming edition of the Triennale CONNECTION AND SOLIDARITY also marks the launch of a new funding program: Thanks to a private legacy donation, the foundation will enable three artists to realize new works for the exhibition in Bingen starting in 2026, as well as in 2029.
The selected artists for 2026 all come from the Rhine-Main region. In addition to Max Brück, BA Sela and Emilia Neumann have been named.
