What do the heavens tell? And what do their voices sound like? King David hears them jubilating loud and clear and dedicates Psalm 19 to their enthusiastic praise: "The heavens declare the glory of God." In its eponymous program, the Vocalconsort Mainz joyfully joins in and lets its gaze wander: towards the shining stars, the singing birds, but also to the moments when the harp playing turns into a lament. The music spans the spectrum from early Baroque vocal polyphony to modern a cappella arrangements and captivatingly tells of ancient legends, youthful feelings, and small wonders under the vast open sky.
