At Bingen University of Applied Sciences, the Environmental Calculator was developed. It is an online tool, that helps wineries to self-assess the environmental impact of their operations, identify potential savings, and independently produce a sustainability report according to international standards.
This includes the recording and evaluation of annual energy and material expenses. After successful data submission, the user receives an automatically generated evaluation, which refers to five core aspects: material use, energy, wastewater, water and waste. The environmental calculator allows to evaluate the development of one's own winery, but also the comparison with other wineries (benchmarking).
It is available to all interested wineries for free on the TH-Bingen website.
