Route guidance
From the train station in Ingelheim, follow the signs for Bingen in the direction of Bingen for 400 m until you reach the branch of the fruit route through the railway underpass, from where you leave Ingelheim north to the Rhine mainly on cycle paths. Through a wide polder landscape, the Rhine cycle path is soon reached, which is followed by Heidenfahrt. Here you can enjoy a broad view over the Rhine to Eltville and the Rheingau on the Rhine promenade, before heading south for Heidesheim. In this place starts at the church of the first rise with a length of 3 km and about 140 meters above sea level, which runs through Heidesheim, on the connecting county road in between and on narrow inner-city road to the outskirts of Wackernheim. At the traffic light turn right and after about 500 m turn left again past the us Army military area, and it can be rolled out with wide views into the Rheingau, the Taunus and the Binger forest. Shortly thereafter, the fruit trail descends through vineyards rapidly down to the valley of the Selz, where she meets in Schwabenheim on the Selztal bike path , follow him about 3 km south and him at the eleven thousand maiden mill shortly before Stadecken-Elsheim leaves again in the direction of Engelstadt. Here the second big hill with the same requirements as the first one (3 km and approx. 140 vertical meters) awaits the cyclists. Already on the rise, this effort is compensated by views of the embedded in the Selz landscape places. Through Engelstadt, the rise is significantly flatter, but increases towards the end of town and back to the final height again stronger. Upstairs, it's easy to roll on, at first just, then on a meadow path and on a forest road downhill to Ober-Hilbersheim. With a light pedaling the picturesque Welzbachtal is passed through with its quiet atmosphere of Nieder-Hilbersheim to Appenheim. From here it is only a stone's throw to Gau-Algesheim with the bicycle museum. Parallel to the train on a curved path, it finally goes back to Ingelheim.
