The Hiwweltour Tiefenthaler Höhe has by far the largest share of forest Hiworld tours. A welcome change in Rheinhessen. Vineyards and fabulous panoramic and distant views are of course also in the party. In addition, in the old quarry Dunzelloch a touch of geology and a border crossing along the historic Bavarian-Rheinhessen-border, marked by countless landmarks. All in all an exceptionally entertaining tour in a beautiful landscape

It starts at the village square in Tiefenthal. The northern access road leads past the cemetery to the Hiwweltour at the edge of the forest. From there the view wanders to the Appelbach. Soon we make direct contact with the stream, because it goes right into the wetland of Appelbach.
The path continues through the valley and passes a small pond. After this relaxed start the cool mixed forest lures. After 2 km, the forest backdrop opens and with magnificent views over the Rheinhessen Switzerland we reach the refuge Steinkaute. Then a "green tunnel" of dense hedges and trees leads to the Dunzelloch, a quarry where valuable building material was mined for a long time.
The following ascent is quickly mastered and when leaving the forest, a great panoramic view to the Palatinate with the Donnersberg to the south. So it is easy to understand the documented by ancient landmarks historical boundary between Rheinhessen and the Bavarian Electoral Palatinate.
Also in the field of vision is Mörsfeld with the Daimbacherhof, where today only a bell in the church and a gate beam of the former monastery testify. Who wants to pay a visit to the place uses the access road, which turns off at the forester's lodge. After promising Waldrandpassage we reach on the flank of Homberg the Appelbachtal where a table of wine invites you to linger and enjoy the view.
We walk through meadows and enjoy nature and panorama. In the middle of this idyll there is an opportunity to visit Niederhausen ad Appel.
Soon another idyllic passage follows the open expanse. After the descent, the Hiwweltour leads to the end of a wildly romantic gorge, before we walk from the cemetery on the northern access road back to the village square.
