St. Stephen is a Gothic hall church, famous for the nine stained glass windows by Marc Chagall, which he designed from 1978 as a symbol of Jewish-Christian solidarity. The intense blue of the windows bathes the church interior in a special light, where angels and other biblical figures seem to float. The first window by the then 91-year-old artist was installed in 1978, followed by another eight – six in the east choir and three in the transept.

The church is accessible without barriers; public disabled parking is available in Kleine Weißgasse, and accessible restrooms are nearby (corner of Gautor/Eisgrubweg) as well as in the parish yard next to the church.
