Stellwerk Armsheim

It was built in 1899 at the crossing point of the Alzey-Bingen and Alzey-Mainz railway lines and was in operation for over 100 years. The old mechanical systems of the block and lever works on the upper floor and the tensioning systems on the lower floor are still available and can be visited - now as monuments of the early Rhenish-Hessian railway history. It is planned to expand the old signal box into a museum and to hold information events there on the history of railways in the early industrialization period. On the day of the open monument, former railway employees will probably be present and will be able to tell stories from their work in and around the signal box.
