Liesel Metten Sculptures Path Nieder-Olm
Join us on an unusual and exciting artistic journey in the center of Nieder-Olm. Rarely can one observe the artworks of a renowned sculptor couple in such close proximity. We are talking about the sculptures of Liesel and Johannes Metten in the public squares of our town.
Between 1977 and 2016, a total of 14 works in bronze were created - animal figures and mythical creatures that have conquered the public space in Nieder-Olm. On small brass plaques, viewers can read the title, the year of creation, the material used, and the name of the artist.
The animal figures and mythical creatures all have a connection to our town and the Rheinhessen region. Liesel Metten deliberately designed all the sculptures created for the public space to be interactive. This way, children can also take part in the walk and delight in the mythical creatures.
With the small art travel guide in hand, you will find your way to the various sculptures. It shows you the route from the "Brezelfresser" in Backhausstraße to the "Gänseliesel" in Wassergasse, from the "Sheep Herd with Shepherd" on Recey-Platz to the fountain "Water Birds" on Rathausplatz, and from the "Caterpillar" in the school center to the "Snail Trail" in front of the Ludwig-Eckes-Festhalle.
