The romantic church ruin of St. Maria Magdalena is located on the RheinTerrassenWeg and the Hiwweltour in the small hamlet of Hangen-Wahlheim.
Upon entering the old cemetery, one seems to immerse oneself in another world: the graves are overgrown, and the remains of the church ruin from the 13th century rest peacefully.
The former parish church was expanded during the late Gothic period by a hall building. The enclosing walls, doors, and tracery windows of the structure have been preserved. Particularly noteworthy are the three-sided broken choir niche and the western gable rider with a bell.
The building was destroyed in 1689 during the War of the Palatine Succession and subsequently fell into a Sleeping Beauty slumber, until it was restored a few years ago and can now be rediscovered.
