Four instruments – one sound. And this has been the case for over 30 years. The Oppenheimer Saxophone Quartet was founded in October 1989 with the intention of presenting the saxophone as an instrument of chamber music. The ensemble has impressively succeeded in this over three decades. Concert tours have taken the Oppenheimer Saxophone Quartet far beyond its Rheinhessen homeland. Appearances on radio and television, as well as at various events, ensured that the Oppenheimer Saxophone Quartet became a fixed entity in the cultural scene of the region. The hallmark of the formation is its musical diversity. Whether classical, jazz, pop, world music, or klezmer – the Oppenheimer Saxophone Quartet loves to traverse the boundaries between styles.
Visitors to the Sunday matinee at the Hofgut of the Bernhardt Foundation in Undenheim can look forward to this. In its program "Sound Colors," the Oppenheimer Saxophone Quartet invites you to an enchanting musical stroll through sound worlds and centuries.
Bach's "Contrapunctus IX" from "The Art of Fugue" meets Sting's "Englishman in New York," the 1st movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony meets Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," and Gustav Holst's "Second Suite in F" encounters the
jazz-rock classic "Birdland." The matinee will conclude with the greatest hits of the Beatles.
