Buchvorstellung: 100 Jahre Die Mainzer Hofsänger

A century full of music, tradition, and success

For the 100th anniversary, the history of one of the most famous and globally celebrated men's choirs in Germany is being documented. Founded on Fastnacht Sunday in 1926, the Mainz Hofsingers have shaped German choral music for decades and celebrated international successes – from television appearances in the 1950s that captured the living rooms of the nation, to performances in renowned concert halls. Even today, they inspire people around the world – and not just during Mainz Fastnacht.

Initially, writing the anniversary work was just a desire. When the editorial team first came together, the choir didn't even have its own archive. Much was stored in boxes and only provisionally accommodated. However, while rummaging through this collection, true treasures from the history of the Hofsingers came to light: images and original documents, record covers and awards that highlight the background of the choir's founding and provide insights into the soul of the Mainz Hofsingers.
