On Sunday, October 4, 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m., the annual kite flying day of the Liste Selzen will take place.

The spectacle unfolds on the open area around the hall of the Pustelnik family, near the Selzen sports hall. The Pustelnik family hall is located about 500 meters towards Aussiedlerhöfe from the sports hall, found on the right side. The kite flying day in Selzen is a family fun event for young and old – an ideal destination for a Sunday outing with the whole family. As always, the focus is on the children at this event. In addition to the fun of flying kites, there are more attractions for the kids, such as a bouncy castle and a glitter tattoo artist. For “kite tamers” and those who wish to become one, there will be kite sales on site. Also once again, there will be a raffle held for the benefit of KIKAM e.V., which uses the proceeds to support the pediatric cardiology intensive care unit at the University of Mainz.

Not only children are invited to this festival; it is a celebration for all generations. The spacious grounds around the hall offer the best opportunities to fly kites without disturbance. For more than 25 years, Liste Selzen has been organizing this family fun event for young and old, which has always been very popular.

Food and drinks will be abundantly provided throughout the day. Beverages offered include Selzen wines, Federweißer, and juices as well as soft drinks. For food, there will be fries, sausages, and grilled steaks, seasonal Rheinhessen soup, hot waffles, homemade cakes, and coffee. With these Rheinhessen specialties, you can recover from the “strenuous activity” of kite taming or simply enjoy watching the colorful hustle and bustle in the sky. Kite enthusiasts who bring their own self-built kites and fly them will receive a meal voucher for their successful construction. But even visitors who do not wish to fly a kite can enjoy this fun while having a “hearty” lunch and make a lovely afternoon filled with pleasant conversations.
