Trade Unionists in the Osthofen Concentration Camp

Many individuals were imprisoned in the Osthofen concentration camp starting in 1933 for their involvement in a trade union and for resisting the Nazi regime. Especially following the events surrounding May 1st and 2nd, 1933, numerous union members were brought to Osthofen. The presentation provides information about the origins and function of the early Osthofen concentration camp, the reasons for detention, the daily life of the inmates in the camp, the guards and officials, as well as the later handling of the Nazi past and the establishment of the memorial site, with particular attention to biographies and materials on the topic of "Trade Unions".
