Grenzenlos Kultur

The 28th edition of the inclusive and international theater festival Grenzenlos Kultur will take place from September 24 to October 4, 2026, at the Staatstheater Mainz. Under the title "Crazy Years," the festival offers a unique perspective on the cultural summer motto "The Golden Twenties." The program connects the social upheavals of that time with the living realities of disabled people.

The productions address the question of whether humor can be a response to the attempt to capitalize on disability. Other pieces combine Easy Language or German Sign Language with new drama. The perspective of disabled people as an inspiration for a non-disabled environment is also explored. The program is complemented by street theater, readings, and parties.

The festival is organized by Lebenshilfe Kunst und Kultur gGmbH and the Staatstheater Mainz. It is supported by Aktion Mensch and the cultural summer of Rhineland-Palatinate.
