Hagen Rether – Liebe

In great detail, Rether connects the current with the forgotten, the near with the distant, questions, contradicts, and doubts. He thoroughly shakes central beliefs of Western "civilization," exposing so-called necessities as collective fictions to laughter. With surprising comparisons, he seduces the audience to change their perspective – to see the world differently, to look into the future, into the mirror, and also to confront uncomfortable truths. And he calls for us to free ourselves from our often-instrumentalized fear and anger.

Rether's LOVE is tragic, comical, painful, infectious: The constantly mutating program with the same title causes lasting discontent with simple explanations and encourages independent thinking and action. For up to three and a half hours, the cabaret artist passionately advocates for enlightenment and compassion, against double standards and the consumerist indifference: Change is possible – if we want it.
