Goldish Mainz meets the red wine city Ingelheim: a cultural enjoyment tour on the nostalgia bus
From the imperial city to Mainz's old town on 21.08.2026
Experience a delightful journey on the traditional bus from Ingelheim to the romantic old town of Mainz. An exciting story connects both cities: Thanks to the clever and Francophile Anselm Franz of Ingelheim, Mainz was not destroyed by the French during the Palatine Succession War, but was “only” plundered. The city was less fortunate in later times – particularly during World War II when Mainz was heavily destroyed in 1945.
All the more impressive is that the old town has managed to retain its special charm: winding alleys, picturesque squares, and historic buildings such as the Cathedral and the St. John's Church at Leichhof, the baroque Augustine Church, as well as the idyllic Cherry Garden with its half-timbered houses invite exploration and lingering.
After these impressive moments, we will unwind the journey – with one or two glasses of wine and a Rheinhessen snack.
Subsequently, the historic bus from the Traditionsbusfreunde Mainz e.V. will bring you back to Ingelheim in a relaxed manner.
