Lesekonzert: Rhapsody in Blue

George Gershwin is regarded as the first American composer to break the boundaries between classical and popular music and had a tremendous influence on the development of jazz. He composed the sound of America!
Wolfgang Nieß demonstrates at the piano how Gershwin forever changed the course of music. Among other pieces, you will hear Gershwin's virtuoso “Préludes,” selected songs from his “Songbook for Piano,” and of course the piece that made him famous and rich at the age of 25: the thrilling “Rhapsody in Blue” in Gershwin's own solo piano arrangement.
In addition, pianist Wolfgang Nieß will provide fascinating insights into Gershwin's intriguing biography through interesting readings, complemented by film presentations from Sabina Nieß.
