Mit der Straßenbahnlinie 1 durch die Augustinergas

On October 27, 1963, the tram line 1 from Weisenau to Mombach last rode through the historic old town of Mainz. This - albeit sad - event resembled a spectacle. The culture and wine ambassador Jörg-Michael Meschkat brings this last operating day in 1963 back to life with historical photos. On Sunday, November 8, 2026, he will guide interested guests in a historical uniform from the year 1900 from the Südbahnhof through Augustinergasse towards Höfchen. Even today, relics from the former operation of the tram can be found in Augustinergasse. During a walk of about one hour, including a wine tasting, the cultural heritage of the tram will once again receive special recognition. A heartfelt recommendation - not just for tram enthusiasts.
