Museumsabend: „Ohne Freunde würd‘ ich alles hassen.“

Alzey
on 07.09.2026 at 19:30 o'clock

Between 1807 and 1812, the woman from Mannheim, Regina Friederike, had friends write in her friendship album before she married Simon Belmont in Alzey in 1813. Her daughter Babette, born in 1819 in Alzey, followed this tradition with her own album. Both albums, also referred to as poetry albums, document the friendship networks of two women from the educated bourgeoisie in the first half of the 19th century. The mostly rhymed sayings are often adorned: with painting and even with embroidery. At the museum evening on the occasion of the European Days of Jewish Culture 2026, Renate Rosenau will present these albums from the Belmont family archive.
Organizer: Altertumsverein für Alzey und Umgebung e.V., KVHS Alzey-Worms and Museum Alzey
Admission is free; the museum is accessible for people with disabilities. No registration is required.
