“Benjamin, I have nothing to wear!” – Exhibition

What did pop culture look like 100 years ago? In our innovatively designed exhibition, historical sheet music illustrations come to life digitally for the first time – multimedia, interactive, and full of surprises.

Video installations and participation stations take you on a journey back in time to the Roaring Twenties. At the center are artistically illustrated sheet music covers that were created over 100 years ago – a unique and little-known treasure of everyday culture. With their graphics, pointed texts, and hits, they show what moved people back then – from fashion and humor to societal trends.

The illustrations range from naive to grotesque and draw on art styles such as Biedermeier, Art Nouveau, and New Objectivity. They tell stories of identity, pop, and social change – and appear surprisingly current. Due to high demand, the exhibition has been extended until December 13, 2026.

The cabaret bar is open for you and offers snacks and drinks. Admission is free!
