Präsentation und Workshop: Alltag und Kampftechnik der römischen Legionen

Bad Kreuznach
on 10.05.2026 from 11:15 to 13:15 o'clock

Sixty years ago, the Oceanus mosaic was excavated. This magnificent artwork is now a main attraction of the Römehalle Museum. For the anniversary, there are a series of events organized by the Local History Association for the City and District of Bad Kreuznach. The workshop focuses on the fact that the Roman legions and auxiliaries were the backbone of the Roman Empire. In the Römerhalle, there are numerous significant soldier tombstones. They illustrate equipment, clothing, origin, and also the tasks in the army, as well as providing insights into the social status, length of service, and age of the soldiers. New to the collection is a replica of perhaps the most famous tombstone: the tombstone of Centurion Marcus Caelius - he died in the famous Battle of the Teutoburg Forest against the army of Arminius. The exciting workshop offers a low-threshold, vivid, and playful access to the world of antiquity. Admission is free. Registration: museumsinfo@bad-kreuznach.de and 0671 2985820.
