Riverboat Shuffle 2026

The Jazzclub Rheinhessen e.V. is hosting a riverboat shuffle on June 28, 2026. It starts at 12:00 p.m. in Bingen - Bridge 7.

Awarded the “Newcomer Jazz Prize of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate” for the first time in 2024, bandleader and saxophonist Paul Scheugenpflug creates a bridge between catchy melodies and energetic jazz improvisation with his compositions. The focus is on a varied and groove-based jazz program with influences from fusion, hip-hop, and pop. The quartet features Paul Scheugenpflug – saxophone, flute, comp., Valentin Findling – piano, keyboards, Moritz Neukam – bass, Joshua Knauber – drums.

The band New Orleans Joymakers was founded in 2005. The repertoire of a good New Orleans band consists of blues, rags, marches, and American hits. It has always been music for use: "from the cradle to the grave – music for all occasions." Bandleaders are trumpeter Harald Möbus and drummer Udo Beilborn, who have appeared in several formations. Additionally, John Defferary plays clarinet, whose performance embodies everything that defines the New Orleans style, melody line and the sensitive elegance of the clarinet. Banjo player and guitarist Alex Friedrich is responsible for the harmonies and rhythm. Bass is played by Michael Bauer, a true stroke of luck for the band.
