The tree is an underrated living being.
Even though they stand in the same spot for their entire lives. They are not silent, solitary beings. In the forest, they have family members, business partners, and enemies. They form friendships, care for and educate their offspring. To survive, they warn each other of dangers. And they are interconnected with all.
For this, they use among other things the "Wood Wide Web", a network of fungi on the forest floor.
Nature spirits and forest spirits are also considered allies. They are magical, sacred, invisible forces and usually appear as dwarfs, fairies, elves, giants, or ghosts living deep in the forest.
However, many trees also have healing properties. The mystic Hildegard of Bingen saw, for example, a versatile remedy in beech trees. She used various parts of the tree for specific ailments.
