The Westschleife leads via Gau-Algesheim with its beautiful historic market square and the Rheinhessen bicycle museum through the idyllic Welzbachtal, up to Appenheim and Ober-Hilbersheim. From the hill it rolls easily easy through the vineyards down to the valley of the Selz to the legendary "eleven thousand maiden mill" in Elsheim. From there it goes through Selztal back to the red wine town of Ingelheim, where in addition to a glass of wine, the old walls and exposed archaeological finds of the castle church and imperial palace wait for a visit.

Route guidance

The Westschleife leads via Gau-Algesheim with its beautiful historic market square and the Rheinhessen bicycle museum through the idyllic Welzbachtal, up to Appenheim and Ober-Hilbersheim. A3 / A60, exit 16-Ingelheim-Ost in the direction of Ingelheim-Ost, turn left onto K18 / L422, turn right onto L422, at the roundabout take the first exit, continue in the direction of Ingelheim, past the station, turn left onto Binger Str ., turn left onto Keltenweg

By public transport
Ingelheim is located on the railway lines Mainz - Koblenz (Rhine line) and Frankfurt - Saarbrücken (Nahestrecke)
