Harvest with 100 hl / ha

The wineries in Rheinhessen harvested 260 million liters in 2014. Thaks to that, the harvest volume was 1.5% higher than the year before, but exactly on average on the long term. The yield per hectare was exactly 10,000 liters. Two-thirds of the harvest were white must, one-third was red must.

The quality is a reflection of the weather, therefore in 2010, the proportion of sun-spoiled predicate wines (Spätlese, Auslese, ...) was low. Due to the wet autumn weather and the pressure of the many pests, the grapes had to be harvested extremely quick and early in the best possible condition, so that the gambling for higher qualities literally drowned in many places. Much depended on the extent to which the winegrowers could ensure the desired quality with a selective harvest. The wine-growing experts from the Service Center Rural Areas in Oppenheim summarize their conclusion as follows: "Very differentiated vintage with good yields, satisfying must weights and harmonious acidity; fine fruity white wines; Red wines in a wide range of quality ".

In the first presentations of the new vintage, growers were pleased with the appreciative comments of wine merchants and restaurateurs. The great effort that the winemakers have made in the harvest, is considered with much applause for the successful wines of the vintage 2014.
