Old interlocking Armsheim 2

The old signal box Armsheim Nord (An) was built in 1899 and was in operation for 100 years. Today it is an industrial monument that still contains all the mechanical equipment from the "active period".

It is planned to expand the old signal box to a museum and to offer information about the railway history of the early industrialization period as well as an interactive train experience.

The target group are "passionate railway workers", techies, but also families with children, who want to experience the former work in a completely preserved industrial heritage monument in the context of guided tours or an open house and want to become active. When the interlocking is closed, one should be able to click on the "virtual" QR code in the interlocking.

Contents and goals:

  • Maintenance of the old interlocking including all existing mechanical systems
  • The interlocking as an industrial monument and cultural-tourist offer accessible and experienceable
  • First measures to set up a museum
  • Measures for the virtual use of the museum: Creating a homepage and an app to the signal box and the industrial trail as well as creating videos with "old signalers" and citizens from Armsheim who tell stories about the signal box
  • Building an information showcase with QR code
  • Establishment of a compost toilet in the outdoor area
