Zimmermann Winery

The Zimmermann family winery, run for generations, is located in the beautiful wine-growing community of Ludwigshöhe in Rheinhessen, between Mainz and Worms. Thanks to its geographical location, Ludwigshöhe is nestled between the Rhine and the vineyards. The community of Ludwigshöhe has existed for 180 years and is thus one of the youngest communities in Rheinhessen. This is because Ludwigshöhe developed from the former community of Rudelsheim, which was first documented in 756 AD.

However, Rudelsheim was always plagued by flooding, which made life on the plains almost impossible, so the community had to be relocated to the hills in 1822. Our village, which is one of the few in Rheinhessen that does not end in "heim," owes its name to the then Grand Duke Ludwig of Hesse, who agreed to the relocation to the hills. After a fine wine from the Zimmermann winery, you can stroll along the wine trail and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the vineyards in all directions. If you're not keen on walking, you can also take a vineyard tour by covered wagon and get to know and love the beautiful spots around Ludwigshöhe over a glass or two of wine.
