Tourism in Rheinhessen: Successful first half of 2017

The number of guests and overnight stays in Rheinhessen rose again in the first half of the year compared to the previous year. This will continue the long-term growth in regional tourism this year.

The latest report from the Federal Statistical Office shows a total of around 478,000 guest arrivals for Rheinhessen in the months from January to June 2017 - an increase of 3.4% compared to the previous year. The overnight stays of around 786,000 are 3.8% higher. Here Rheinhessen is also above the national average of + 2.2%.

Particularly striking and pleasing is the high rate of increase in the district of Alzey-Worms, where they are pleased about increases of 10.9% in guest arrivals and 14.5% in overnight stays.

This means a continuation of the positive development of the last ten years, "but above all, it is a confirmation of the continuous development of quality offers in the region, be it in the hospitality industry, tourist infrastructure such as hiking or biking trails or in the event area.", says Christian Halbig, Managing Director of Rheinhessen Touristik GmbH, "we are curious about what the autumn will bring as our main travel season and hope to break the 1 million mark in guest arrivals for the first time at the end of the year."
