Wine & Good Bernhard Stenner

Traditional grape varieties, combined with the best locations close to Mainz - that's what the Wein & Gut Bernhard Stenner stands for. Daughter Malenka studies viticulture with the aim to continue the family business in the fourth generation. She is full of passion, because "a good wine is created only if you put a lot of love in it". Creativity and craftsmanship are combined in the wine and each wine has its own signature and thus a part of her. In her opinion, wine impersonates above all emotion. This joie de vivre and euphoria, the Stenner family is living, should be passed on through the wines, exactly that is to be tasted in every bottle. Everyone will find their favourite wine here! Whether it is a Riesling, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe, Dornfelder, Syrah or Pinot Noir, you will feel and taste it.

On the estate English and German is spoken.

Bodenheimer Mönchspfad

Bodenheimer Mönchspfad (Bodenheim Monk’s path)

St. Alban and the delicious Silvaner

St. Alban's was one of the oldest and most important churches in Mainz, "a second Mainz Cathedral", states the Institute for Historical Regional Studies at the University of Mainz. The history of the church dates back to late Roman times. It was burnt down in 1552 and the monastery was closed in 1802. But some historical references - like in the naming of the site "Bodenheimer Mönchspfad" - remain. The St. Albans monastery owned land there. Today, a wide variety of grape varieties grow on fertile loess loam, including delicious Silvaner. Bodenheim is part of the RheinTerrassenWeg,a hiking trail parallel to the river Rhein.

Hechtsheimer Kirchenstück

Hechtsheimer Kirchenstück (Church Piece of Hechtsheim)

The only one - predestined for Silvaner and Riesling

The only vineyard in Hechtsheim, "Kirchenstück", is a gem: surrounded by the houses of the Mainz district, with a wide view of the hills in Rheinhessen, the river Rhein, Mainz Cathedral and Taunus. Silvaner and Riesling vines grow here on loess soil. In recent years, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and some red wine varieties have been added. The name of the vineyard, which was first mentioned in a document over 800 years ago, goes back to an old church estate. The wine festival in the middle of the single vineyard site is well worth experiencing: on a 500-metre-long course, the Hechtsheim winegrowers invite visitors to taste and enjoy the wines. The wine festival even was awarded with the "Rheinhessen AUSGEZEICHNET" seal of quality. By the way, the Mainz tram takes visitors directly from Mainz city center to the vineyard.
