Winery Pfleger

We, the Pfleger family, run a small winery in the Worms district Rheindürkheim.
Here in Wonnegau, in the very south of Rheinhessen, there are almost perfect conditions for viticulture. Climate and soil are just right. They are the basis for exciting, authentic wines.
In Rheindürkheim, the beautiful promenade invites you for a walk.
On several Sundays in summer, our wine stand is also available here for the "Weinrast am Schiffermast".
We live by and with nature. The soil is our highest good. Sustainable business is our priority.

English speaking visitors are welcome.

Hohen-Sülzener Kirchenstück

Hohen-Sülzener Kirchenstück (Church piece of Hohen-Sülzen)

The monastery cooks already knew what was good.

The site was first mentioned in a document in 1297 with the name "iuxta Kirchenstücke". "iuxta" is Latin and means "close to". Either this piece of land was intended for the upkeep of a monastery kitchen or it generally referred to a church property. Hohen-Sülzen appears under the names "Sulza" (1140), "Sulzen" (1200), "Horsulzen" (1238) and "Sulczen" (1355) and lay in the old "Wormsgau". Riesling and Pinot Noir grow here on loess, loam and soft limestone. Wines with opulent fruit and multi-dimensional character are produced here.

> In the photos: This is a small windmill, but not for power generation, but for wind turbulence when the vines are threatened with frost.

Monsheimer Rosengarten

Monsheimer Rosengarten

Devotional, romantic or humorous?

The location was mentioned in a document in 1750 with the name "in the rose garden". The planting of the noble flower, the rose, may have led to its name. Often, however, these vineyard anmen point to early medieval burial sites. Which of these is true, we do not know today. But the single vineyard is quite romantic today in spring - with pink blossoming almond trees. And is adorned by two trulli, small white round houses. The radio tower trullo looks particularly funny. A funny architectural ensemble of brick on the one hand and a steel construction on the other. A bench and a round table invite you to rest under the trees. The "Pfrimm", a small river (the locals say "the Bach") flows by not far away. Monsheim and Kriegsheim (a district of Monsheim) have over 20 bridges. A wide variety of grape varieties grow on loess soil with sand, gravel and clay portions. The vineyard can be found under the name "Monsheimer Rosengarten" as well as "Kriegsheimer Rosengarten".
