As early as the 15th century, old documents mention the existence of productive quarries near Stein-Bockenheim. The Dunzelloch was one such quarry. Sandstone was mined here. At the Dunzelloch the work on the stone can be seen particularly well. One can guess how the cuboid stone blocks were cut out of the stone.
