On the southwestern edge of Heidesheim, the castle mill, built in 1577, and the more modest praise mill characterize the townscape. There were once over a dozen mills here, but only the mill on the Sandhof still has a real mill wheel. The Schlossmühle has belonged to Boehringer Ingelheim since 1970 and is now the seat of three foundations of the family company.

The history of the castle mill can be traced back to the 13th century. In 1970 it burned down to the ground and was rebuilt by the new people who took over, the Boehringer family.
