Bad Kreuznacher Narrenkäfig am Schwerdonnerstag

Bad Kreuznach is the foolish stronghold on the Nahe. The ten carnival clubs organize a major attack on the laughter muscles from 11.11. to Ash Wednesday and demand a certain level of fitness from the jesters. The numerous sessions are characterized by individuality, ingenuity and wit with peppery speeches, dance performances and music. The halls shake. A supra-regional attraction of the street carnival is the "Narrenkäfig" on the central Kornmarkt on the Thursday before Rose Monday - the Altweiberfastnacht. Many thousands of jesters party and compete for the prize, usually in originally costumed groups. The absolute highlight is the parade - the "Narrenfahrt" on Saturday - which winds its way through the city center with over 100 floats and delights 60,000 spectators. The most beautiful floats, often fantastically designed over months, are awarded prizes by a jury. To organize the street carnival, the clubs have joined forces in the "Kreiznacher Narrefahrt" e.V.. All work is carried out on a voluntary basis. Travel by bus and train is recommended. You can reach the train station in just a few minutes.
