Dorothy lives together with her uncle and aunt on a farm. It is a sheltered, but not exactly happy family life. Therefore, she often dreams herself into a land "somewhere over the rainbow." When a tornado sweeps both Dorothy and the entire house away, her dream becomes reality – she finds herself in a new world.
Before long, she has to defend herself against the wicked witch of the west, for after all, the flying house killed her sister, the wicked witch of the east ... But there is also another witch, the good witch of the north, who advises Dorothy to visit the wizard of Oz, for only he has the power to bring her back to her world.
On her way to him, she encounters a tin man, a scarecrow, and a lion, whose quest for heart, brain, courage, and home will be rewarded ...
