The young painter captivated the audience especially with his early works. Drawings from his Palatinate homeland, depicting soulful animal representations, landscapes, and portraits from the life of the son of a Kreuznach innkeeper with a passionate artistic gesture. The talented youth received his artistic training in the service of the prince in Zweibrücken and Mannheim. He also gained increasing recognition as a literary figure. Thus, he appeared to be an emerging star in the society of painters and poets of the 18th century. However, with the relocation to Rome, his fame faded, and his artistic creativity seemed to decline, while Rome, with its overwhelming cultural backdrop, became his new home for 47 years. The tour not only conveys the impressive artistic output of the early works but also follows the winding path of his life. For this exhibition, the Museum Schlosspark can contribute numerous works from its own collection. The retrospective is enriched with numerous loans. Entry price including museum admission: €9.00.
