Sunday, 22.02.2026 at 5 PM (Entry: 4:30 PM) in the council chamber of the Wörrstadt collective municipality „A Journey to Vienna”

The professional opera singers from “Opera et Cetera” present a colorful bouquet of melodies and ensembles from opera, operetta, musical, and pop, featuring the participation and artistic direction of Keith Ikaia-Purdy, Christian Strauß (piano), and Michael Blevins (moderation). Founded in 2011, “Opera et Cetera” aimed to provide young trained opera singers at the start of their careers with their first performance opportunities. This way, they could gain stage experience and broaden their repertoire. With this in mind, the world-renowned tenor Keith Ikaia-Purdy, as the musical director, along with Michael Blevins, who develops the programs, established the group “Opera et Cetera.” The audience loves the diverse mix of all music genres, from grand opera arias to operettas, musicals, film music, and pop. However, it is not only the selection of music but especially the performance by the young, enthusiastic singers that contributes to the success of “Opera et Cetera.” The audience feels the joy the artists have for the music and enjoys their performances. “Opera et Cetera” tours successfully throughout Germany and abroad.

Keith Ikaia-Purdy has been described as “one of the brightest stars in the tenor world” (Die Welt) after more than two decades on leading stages worldwide. His international breakthrough began with a musical rescue mission: he spontaneously stepped in for the ailing Luciano Pavarotti during a Tosca performance at the Vienna Festival and received thunderous applause for it. Some of his most important performances were at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera of Stockholm, Carnegie Hall, and the Bavarian State Opera. He has been seen in leading roles in numerous international TV broadcasts, such as “La Bohème” (Berlin State Opera), “Rosenkavalier” (Vienna State Opera under Carlos Kleiber), and “Mefistofele” with Riccardo Muti. He is most strongly associated with the Vienna State Opera, where he has appeared as a leading tenor in more than 250 performances over 15 seasons.
