Rheinhessisches Mundartfestival - Ajoh und Uwe Jung – „Bei uns in de Gass“

Ajoh is a Rheinhessian father & son duo that has been traveling through the land since 2002, offering insights into various topics with their songs: the everyday, the contemplative, and the curious. The music accompanying them spans several genres and comes from the guitars of both artists. The first words of their lives were heard in Rheinhessian, as that was also the language spoken by their mothers. Therefore, it is the language of their souls, in which they think, dream, and feel secure. It is from this source that the lyrics of their songs come, many of which feature self-composed melodies. Ajoh – consisting of Horst Dehmel (father) and Jörg Dehmel (son). Uwe Jung (center) from Wörrstadt-Rommersheim reads stories in Rheinhessian dialect, short episodes that deal with memories of earlier times, but also include wordplay and current events. Some of these stories were written for the local annual yearbooks of the Alzey-Worms district and the Rheinhessian dialect competition (partly published in the Babbel books of the Leinpfad publishing house). The event takes place as part of the rheinhessenKULTur - Dialect Festival 2026.
