Sondervitrine: A jewish family's life after Alzey

Alzey
on 04.12.2025 to 07.12.2025

Title of the special showcase: “A Jewish Family’s Life after Alzey” - Knitted Memory of a Granddaughter
Exhibition duration: Monday 08.09.2025 to Sunday 19.10.2025

Eight knitted pictures (art knitting with a knitting machine) featuring family photos from the years 1901 - 2024 as templates will be on display. The granddaughter of expelled Jews from Alzey transforms her family memories into knitted pictures. In doing so, she employs a technique that connects both to the family tradition as textile retailers and to her own qualification as an art knitter.
Exhibits 2024 donated to the museum by Mrs. Lena Frumin, USA (through the mediation of Ms. Renate Rosenau).
The special exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Alzey Museum, and admission is free.
