Where once a subtropical sea surged, fossils of rhinoceroses and crocodiles were discovered, and later a limestone quarry was established, today extends a unique nature and leisure park: the Budenheim Golf Course.
The new guided tour "Walk NO 1: Primeval Sea . Landfill . Biotope" invites you on an exciting journey through millions of years of Earth's history. Participants will be taken on a approximately one-hour tour through the former quarry area – now a nationwide showcase project for nature conservation and local recreation.
From geological origins to spectacular fossil finds and the industrial use as a quarry and landfill: The tour illustrates how the site has transformed over millions of years and decades. Today, it is home to rare orchid meadows and bats – nestled within an impressive landscape featuring a golf course and protected natural areas.
Cost: 10.00 €/person.
