Where once a subtropical sea surged, fossils of rhinos and crocodiles were discovered, and later a limestone quarry was established, today there stretches a unique nature and recreation park: the Budenheim golf course.

The new tour "Walk NO 1: Primeval Sea . Dump . Biotope" invites participants on an exciting journey through millions of years of earth history. Participants will be taken on a tour of approximately one hour through the former quarry area – now a nationwide showcase project for nature conservation and local recreation.

From geological origins to spectacular fossil finds, and through the industrial use as a quarry and landfill: the tour shows how the area has changed over millennia and decades. Today, it is home to rare orchid meadows and bats – nestled in an impressive landscape with a golf course and protected natural areas.
