The division of so-called care work, meaning the unpaid work of caregiving, housework, and childcare on one hand, and on the other hand, paid or wage labor, is a central issue of gender equality.

Especially cleaning often becomes a topic of discussion and not infrequently a point of contention. What significance did cleaning have in the past in various social contexts? Who cleans what, where, and where not? We want to address these questions from historical and sociological perspectives within the framework of the museum café.
