This stage of the Hiwwel Route thrives on contrasts. Starting at the Kaiserpfalz, the route runs above the Rhine Valley – with wide views reaching as far as the Taunus and the Rheingau.
You cycle through orchards, pass by Windeck Castle, and continue towards Mainz. From here on, the surroundings become quieter and greener: the Gonsbach Valley accompanies you into the outskirts of the city, with small market gardens, hidden corners, and a touch of urban flair.
