When the Groß-Gerau safari park closed its doors in 1984, Peter Schweikhard was raising two tiger cubs by bottle. After the park went bankrupt, they simply stayed in Ingelheim. The bathing beach at Pfarrwiesensee can be reached via a tarmac field path in the immediate vicinity of the outdoor pool in Gimbsheim. Swimming and using the beach is free of charge and at your own risk. There is no supervision by the DLRG (German Life Saving Association).
