The wine shop at Niersteiner Marktplatz
Since 2017, the wine shop has been centrally located at Niersteiner Marktplatz. Here, visitors can leisurely explore the selection, taste wines, and receive expert advice in their search for the perfect drop. In addition to its own wines, the wine shop offers selected additions for special wine gifts and moments of enjoyment – including Greek olive oil, wine yeast brandy, bee products, and various spice salts.
The history of the winery
With a small piece of vineyard and a lot of love for nature, the history of the Wedekind winery began in 2005. Esther and Philipp met during their studies in Geisenheim and decided to build their own winery together. From the very beginning, ecological management of the vineyards has been the focus. Since 2008, the Wedekind winery has been a member of Ecovin, the largest association of ecologically operating wineries. Thus, Esther and Philipp consistently pursue their commitment to take responsibility for a healthy environment and vibrant soils.
Today, the winery cultivates around 10 hectares of vineyard area. With great passion, characterful and varietal wines are created here, which regularly receive awards at various competitions. From two people, a family of four has emerged – and from the original idea, a versatile family business. The focus is always forward-looking: with many ideas and new plans, the future remains exciting.
