Dittelsheimer Geiersberg

Riesling - Powerful and precise like a bird of prey

Buzzard, hawk or sparrowhawk: birds of prey lie in wait for their prey and strike with lightning speed. In the Middle Ages, they were known as "vultures" (from the Middle High German gīr). Presumably, the location in Dittelheim is called so because of the large number of these birds. The "Geiersberg" is located at the foothills of the Kloppberg. The vines stand on deep, calcareous clay marl - rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium. In the glass, the wines reflect powerful minerality. Especially Rieslings, but also Pinot Noirs present themselves complex, precise, concentrated and cool.

Heidenturmkirche Dittelsheim-Heßloch

Not to be missed is the Evangelical Church of Dittelsheim-Heßloch, located in Dittelsheim on the main street and closely integrated into the village's architecture. The "Heidenturm" defines the street scene and is recognizable from a distance; it is considered the most beautiful tower of the four Heidenturm churches and dates from the period between 1200 and 1250. The baroque church building was newly constructed in 1730. Of the churchyard surrounding the church, the old gatehouse with the pointed arch made of substantial stones has been preserved, welcoming visitors and, of course, all pilgrims. Here you have the opportunity to take a holiday photo of a special kind. Capture a beautiful holiday memory with the charming Rheinhessen landscape.

The 70-hour campaign of the Federation of German Rural Youth in May 2019 was a complete success for the local group Monzernheim. Through collaborative efforts, the rural youth from Wonnegau were able to implement their idea of picture frames and thereby enhance the tourist offerings in the region. Once the steel constructions, each adorned with two Rural Youth logos, were completed, they could be inaugurated.
