Spiesheim

church Spiesheim

During the Reformation, Spiesheim had a parish church dedicated to Saint Stephen, which served the Reformed community as a place of worship until 1706. Due to the Palatine church division, the community lost its church and acquired a barn "Auf dem Liding," which was subsequently used for services. Initial plans for a new church were created in 1788, and a year later, the foundation work began. However, financial constraints, French occupation, two wars, and the integration of Rheinhessen into the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt delayed…

Elisabethquelle

Bad Kreuzbach

Elisabeth-Quelle

The “spa island” of Badewörth lies between the main arm of the River Nahe and the Mühlenteich canal. Locals bored the first salt water spring in 1832 at the very point where the Nahe and Mühlenkanal split. They named the spring Elisabethquelle – the “Elisabeth Spring” – after the wife of the King of Prussia. The building was used as the pump rooms until 1989 and now houses a wine bar. Salt water is now in the thermal baths and in the health centre, with inhalations and with therapeutic mud…

Dorfbrunnen Kriegsheim

Monsheim OT Kriegsheim

Dorfplatz im Ortsteil Kriegsheim

The town hall of the Kriegsheim municipality stood on this site. It was demolished in 1986. Afterwards, the "village square" was created, which is often used as a meeting place and experiences an annual highlight with the Kriegsheimer Kerwe and the "Kerweredd" held there. Kriegsheim was an independent municipality until 1969, when it was incorporated into the municipality of Monsheim. Since the administrative reform of 1972, the community has belonged to the municipality of Monsheim. Text taken from Rundgang Kriegsheim with kind permission.

Das Forsthaus

Ingelheim am Rhein

The forester's lodge

The construction of a forester's lodge in the second half of the 18th century is linked to the appointment of a kurfürstlichen forester. He was responsible for the entire Ingelheimer territory. The government aimed to combat the ongoing wood shortage with targeted reforestation. Sand dunes in the Nieder-Ingelheimer district were planted with pines. The wooded floodplains of the Rhine were managed. With the oversight of the planting of white mulberry trees to promote silk production, the forester received an important additional task…
