For many years, Volker Gallé has been writing, composing, and singing in the dialect of his homeland. His program ranges from his most famous song "Isch hunn die Hiwwel so gern" to an arrangement of Gershwin's blues "Summertime," to poetic texts about the heaven-dominated land of Rheinhessen and cabaret-style poetry about the classic misunderstanding between precise Prussians and situational Rheinhessen. He delves deep into the Rheinhessian soul and finds, alongside self-ironic wordplay, a joy in experimenting with the interplay of different languages. Blues and folk come from the English-speaking world, the chanson from France, but the French language also slips into Rheinhessian nursery rhymes. Using onomatopoeic methods from Dadaism, he mixes Turkish and Rheinhessian sound patterns. “Kimmsche heit net, kimmsche moje” floats in variations over an Arabic melody. You can hear Zuckmayer's Völkermühle on the Rhine clattering as a joyful alternative to hatred and violence.
