Special exhibition

on 01.10.2026 at 19:30 o'clock

How and why did the citizens of Alzey discover antiquity at the turn of the century?
The special exhibition at the Alzey Museum presents spectacular, never-before-seen excavation finds and plans, travel souvenirs, and complete private collections from that time. It becomes clear how Alzey's Roman past was brought to light and how citizens of Alzey managed to present themselves as excavators and collectors. Those who wanted to matter dug, collected, or at least quoted their ancient poets. Education indeed makes the difference – but what does that mean for education today?

The special exhibition will be on display at the Alzey Museum until the end of the year 2026.
Everyone interested is warmly invited to the opening on 10.1.2026 at 7:30 p.m.!
