For ages, the folk have processed traumatic events in their music in folk – and not only in the Anglo-Saxon region – and thus keep them in memory.
Countless ballads depict crimes that are horrific. Jürgen Haber talks about the notorious Magdalene homes that existed until the 1980s, murder and manslaughter, also in connection with English rule in Ireland and the liberation from it.
Petra Fluhr and Gernot Blume provide the corresponding music with songs like "The Cruel Sister," "Foggy Dew," "The Cruel Mother," etc.
